Ductless Mini Split system
A Ductless Mini Split system is an Air Conditioner or Heat Pump system that has an outdoor unit and in door unit. The outdoor unit looks similar to a typical outdoor AC unit. The indoor unit is mounted to a wall or ceiling. The system uses no ductwork and instead has a wall or ceiling mount unit in every room. When not maintained properly, and/or installed improperly, Ductless Mini Split systems can have a very short life span. If properly maintained, ductless mini split systems can last 20+ years.
Proper maintenance is vital to getting a long life out of your ductless Mini Split system, as well as the highest level of efficiency possible. A ductless mini split system that has not been serviced in years will cost MUCH more to operate, and or may not operate at all.
If the outdoor section of your Ductless Mini split system is dirty it will cause the system to run hot. And just like an automobile, if it runs hot it can decrease it’s life span dramatically.
If the indoor section of your Heat Pump is dirty it will prevent the air from getting cold, making the system work harder to cool your home. We recommend cleaning your Heat Pump’s’s air filter every 1 to 3 months.

- Warm areas (summer mode)
- Cool areas (winter mode)
- Lack of cool air (summer mode)
- Lack of warm air (winter mode)
- Water leaking
- Visible Ice on system piping
- Lack of airflow
- Thermostat problems
- Loud noises or banging
- Heat pump cycling on and off frequently
- Any change in normal operating patterns
- Ice build up on outdoor unit (winter mode)
